Description
Uji is usually famous for its matcha, but visiting Byodo-in during the spring is an entirely different experience. I wanted to capture the Phoenix Hall in a way that felt quiet and intimate, despite how iconic it is. I ended up shooting through a low-hanging branch of cherry blossoms, using the out-of-focus pink petals to create a soft, natural frame around the sharp vermilion architecture. With the temple reflecting perfectly in the pond, the whole scene felt less like a physical place and more like a dream floating between spring and history.
